My guess is it depends on the city, I would find out by talking maybe to a lawyer to see if you could get that felony sponged.

sponged, whats that? rubbing it with water? Do you mean exsponged?

My guess would be it depends on what the felong is? Is it of a violent nature? Did you do time? Are you on probation?

It would hosestly depend on the department and their policies. I would suggest having all your certs and college hours complete prior to applying to look as good as you can. Most large metro areas have strict restrictions on any arrest, even speeding tickets. Most even check credit history. I would suggest doing research on the deaprtment, possibly speaking with the recruting office.

Expunged, anyways not to be a downer but your going to have an extremely tough time geting a firefighting job with a felony on your record. I wouldnt go get a bunch of certs and fire science education because It could just turn out to be a big waste of money and time if your felony did still keep you from getting a job.

Try getting on a volunteer dept. Be truthful to the chief and let him know that you will give 110 percent and work on getting your cert for FF1.trust goes a long ways in due time.....

Most fire departments will not hire any one with a felony conviction. Why should they???

Misdemeanors, depending on what it was. Might not get you hire either!!!

Every state has laws regarding this and each is different. Most states require NO felony convictions, some require NONE for the previous ten years.

Ask the HR department, Chief, or whomeve where you plan to apply. You may need to find another line of work, or wait until you're 30 to start applying depanding on your state.

Glad you got on the right track, but there are consequences to all of our actions.

We have had a few with felonies on our Volunteer Dept. As stated, trust goes along way, and depending on how long ago the felony was, volunteer depts may let you on. Give it a shot and talk to the chiefs.

Depends on where you are. In Wisconsin you can't be a FF if you have any felonies.
