I think, as crazy as it sounds, I would like to go back to WW2. I would like to believe that maybe I could have been as brave as many of those guys were when I was 17 or 18 years old.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for what that whole generation accomplished.

firepics, I know what your saying. I can't believe the courage and dedication of our WW2 vets. I have been in a warzone, albeit well back from combat operations, but not neccesarily secure waters. There was always an undercurrent of tension, never really relaxing. I must think that my WW2 era fellow merchant marines must have experienced 100 times the anxiety, always waiting for that torpedo from "no where" to strike. For that they have my extreme respect.

With all due respect to the WWII generation, I believe that the guys who have fought in Falluja, Najaf, Ramadi, and An Nasiriyah rank right up there. Sometimes our awe of our forefathers blinds us to the heroism of our own generation.

Other than following Da Gonz to provide additional fire support, I think I'd like to "be there" when the first thoughts for designing internal combustion engines and centerfugal pumps (to see the "paper napkin in the bar, over martinis" first concepts :D) and to really see how Da Vinci really came up with some of his futuristic ideas.

And if it weren't that two really great young boys came out of it, to leave very detailed notes to myself regarding my X-Wife. (thank God she never REALLY did learn to shoot fireballs from her eyes hehehehehe)
