Fire Medic Dan Nichols, 40, worked a 48 hour shift to help out a co workerwith the Des Moines Fire Department, and was headed home to his wife and five children Monday morning when his truck skidded on any icy road. Dan was also a member of the Indianola Fire Department. Funeral services with full fire department honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Assembly of God in Indianola. Please keep Dan, his wife and children, and our brothers and sisters with the Des Moines and Indianola Fire Departments in your prayers.

not putting him down, but there is a rumor here in Iowa, that he was drunk at the time of the accident. have you heard anything like that?

Even IF he was. This is not the time nor the place to ask.

i send my apologies. i believe he was a good person, and was good at his job. and even if he was drunk at the time, it doesn't change the fact that he will be missed.

I saw Dan 20 minutes before he died, he was putting a report into firehouse and was going home to see his family for Christmas, he was definitly not drunk how could anyone even think that. RIP Dan

Another example of why FH should not restrict the bumping of old threads.

If anyone bitches about THIS thread being resurrected they should be ashamed of themselves, as it is a brother remembering his brother. Even though it's a year and a half late, I'm sorry for your loss fyerfytr.

Sleep with angels, Dan :( :( :( You won't ever be forgotten. I've learned that much about your Brotherhood.
