Hey everyone. Thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Aaron, age 16, of British Columbia, Canada. I am studying to get my Emergency Medical Responder certificate and licence. When I am 19 I want to get my Primary Care Paramedic certificate.
Right now I volunteer with St. John Ambulance as a first aider. I am also a first aider at my school and am the First Aid advisor for another school.
Anyways, looking forward to meeting you all.

And you are only 16!!!
What's a first aider at a school do? How can you be a first aider with an ambulance company at only 16?
Sounds really interesting.

St. John ambulance is not an ambulance company.
It is a first aid organization that offers training in various levels of first aid from cpr recerts to advanced first aid courses.
Think of them as very similar to the first aid aspects of the Red Cross.
They also have a division that provides event first aid for various... well, events. This division utilizes volunteer first aiders for this purpose.
Many event organizers provide paid first aid coverage, but many others choose to utilize this group of volunteer first aiders to provider their coverage. While there are often medics and nurses that volunteer to provide medical coverage at these events, the majority of the volunteers are people such as Aaron who volunteer their time to help out and develop their skills.
They are a very good organization, and do a lot of good. Having the word ambulance in their name is misleading, however. Especially when you see the vehicles they use for this first aid coverage, which are often old ambulances that were once in service with a medic company. Picture having granny collapse and the family member calls 911. An ambulance, with the words "St. John Ambulance" on it, happens to drive by the front of your house and keeps on going, perhaps on its way to an event it is required at for first aid coverage. Minutes later the actual paramedic ambulance that provides 911 coverage arrives to treat granny. It can be misleading.
Good on you for your achievements so far Aaron. Where are you taking your EMR course?
