Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What the hell happened ?

Socialist ideologies and programs call for immense levels of repressive taxation to fund them.

The more people that suck at the tit of government and want the government to do everything in their lives, the more "creative" schemes will be hatched to fund them.

And figure this one out, New Hampshire has no sales tax or income tax, but can fund everything necessary.

Massachusetts has a sales tax of 5% and income tax of 5.3% and is still bitching about not having enough money.

what did roads look like 100 years ago?
was there 911 100 years ago?
were there many paid fire departments 100 years ago?
was the government trying to fund space travel 100 years ago?
was the government trying to build fighter jets 100 years ago?

Sure we pay alot but I think we get a pretty good return on our money. There are some cases of poor fiscal management by the government (local, state, and fed) but for the most part they do a good job.
