Teacher Tells First-Graders There's No Santa Claus
Teacher Won't Be Punished

POSTED: 2:11 pm EST December 14, 2005 UPDATED: 2:21 pm EST December 14, 2005

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Guess what, kids? There's no such thing as Santa Claus!

That's what a suburban Dallas music teacher told first-graders on Monday and the school's been hearing from parents ever since.

The angry phone calls prompted the Richardson School District to issue a pro-Santa statement.

The district announced that the offending teacher had heard from Santa Claus himself -- who assured the teacher that "the spirit of the holidays is alive and well." And Santa asked the teacher to pass that message along to students.

A district spokesman said the teacher won't face any disciplinary action.

I agree with the 79%, she was out of line. The only thing I look forward to around christmas time is watching my kid open his presents and ask about santa claus. Other than that I hate this time of year.

Unfortunately, here in north Texas we have had several instances of teachers and school boards being Grinches. Plano and another town here have banned kids from passing out candy canes with "religious messages" and they can't wear green or red "festive" clothing. The two ISD's, after extremely negative media attention, have reversed the ruling, but still impose restrictions. Everyone is so eager to be PC that they are causing more harm than good. The bad part is the kids are the ones suffering.

Just wonder what Santa said to get the point across. I know someone that is getting coal this year.

Get a load of this irony.....

My daughter's second grade teacher (PUBLIC SCHOOL MIND YOU!!!) not only told the class there was no Sanata....She told the kids if you believe in him then "You're a big dummy!"

THIS IS THE SAME TEACHER WHO TAKES TIME OUT EACH DAY IN CLASS TO HAVE THE KIDS JOIN IN A GROUP PRAYER SESSION!!!

This is a big city school....although they call it "Magnet School"...it is still considered part of the public school system.

I talked to the principal...she assured me that the teacher was out of order and the situation would be dealt with immediately....
