Hello, MSFFKing. Name is Spears and yes, I am from Lowndes.

Welcome. There is not much traffic on the Mississippi forums. :)

Lowndes County? Where is that? :D

Are you Vol. Or Career with C,bus? Since you are asking about lights, I am thinking Volly......

Which district? Is 120 or 140 your Chief?

Let's see.....Hmmmmm......J.M. Redmond. Doens't ring a bell on the Dist. 1 roster......

Where is you, jmredmond?

O.k. Here in Lowndes, pick your flavor. I have seen White, Amber, or Red...NO BLUE! NO BLUE! I think you will find that using them tends to create a few problems with traffic. People seem to stop/slowdown near the top of hills and curves. Use them wisely.

I'm in Lauderdale County.

jmredmond,
you asked: I'm new to the trade and I was wondering if anyone knew the laws for emergency lights on "POVS" in my county let me know Thanks

The regulations can be found by reading the traffic laws in the MS CODE.
Google "Mississippi Code free" and one from mslawyer.com will show up.

A short overview of the info you will find is this;
You can run RED lights either dash, mounted, permanent, or even a lightbar. Some guys run red/white but there is no written authorization and you might get hasseled if they appear blue through windshield.
Some of my guys also run wigwag headlights.
NO SIRENS may be used on POV's.

I run a Code 3 with mirror on dash, a single revolver on toolbox, and red "lollypops" on front bumper.
(I also have a siren but that's a "Town" thing) SSHHHH!!

I know where you live....... :D :D :D :D

Well, since you are still guest status. I guess you can't p.m. yet.

No, they don't have to be seen 360. You don't even have to have them.

Best thing? Honestly? Worry about getting on and getting the training you need. The other stuff can come later.....

EMR @ Wilcutt? I might have to stop by Thur. night.

The name is Mark Spears....Look me up
