I have been both a firefighter and Paramedic since 1979. I recently have developed a program at a local community college that offers a two year program for Paramedics that awards an associates degree. Also I have a crosswalk program that allows current medics to earn a degree.
My problem is that to teach, my instructors have to be experienced medics certified to teach EMS, but also have a BA/BS degree. Also I have other traditional programs operating until 2007 (state is going to mandate college only programs) and it is hard to keep enrollment up.
Anyone else out there with similar experience? I would look forward to communicationg with you.
