If you have tested for a few departments you know exactly what i'm talking about, the unberable wait to get your results for any phase in the testing process. You goto bed thinking about the mail for the next day and you wake up thinking about the mail. As soon as one thing arrives you move onto the next step in the process and your back to waiting again. This is driving me nuts especially when i'm waiting for the results to a written test or an oral board, the oral board is the worst. As more time passes by since your interview you start thinking I should have done this differently, and you convince yourself you didn't do very well. Then you get the letter, the wait is over your on the eligibility list now you just have to wait until you get a phone call next year. Then in the next few months there aren't any new hiring processes and you don't have anything to wait for in the mail, but you wish you did, go figure.

OMG....you explained it exactly...I just got the letter yesterday that I passed a written for a department near me, now I have to wait until January till the first oral...I keep going over in my head how it's gonna go down..hard to think about anything else.

The wait is driving me nuts, why couldn't they just tell me if I passed of failed when I finished my interview. I'm glad to see that i'm not the only other person who has a love hate relationship with their mail box

I know exactly what you guys mean - the waiting is horrible. I had my oral interview over 3 weeks ago and I should find out something any day now. They said a phone call was good and a letter was bad, so I'm considering cancelling my mail.
