Ok so i live in the city of chicago and I am a college student. I have my own place so I am a resident. Now Chicago is giving a police test and i would love to be a Chicago cop while waiting to get on the Fire Dept. and testing in the suburbs. My dilemma is this in order to be eligible to take the cop test you have to have minimum 60 college credit hours and be 21. I turn 21 after the application process has ended but before the test and also I dont have as many credit hours needed. Im alittle behind in school since I work two jobs and go to school full time. Since this is the case I am always taking the minimun of 12 hours. I dont know when I will reach 60 (im at about 29 right now).

When appying I know I cant do anything about my age, but should I put down how many credit hours I have on my application or should I put down 60 and if I put down 60 and get caught does anyone think it will somehow affect my chances with the fire side. im thinking why lie if i get the job ill be caught and it might affect the fire side. On the other hand what if i do get hired and they dont care, if i dont lie I might miss out on a job, and yes i know lying is wrong and might follow me else where, however Im conflicted, if anyone has ever had this same dilema or advice i would apprciate it.

Do not lie. It's that simple. The fact that you're even thinking about it is unsettling. Get your credits like everyone else has to.

You want to lie on your application to be a police officer?! :( That is an oxy-moronic question. Cops go after those who are dishonest. If you would lie to get in, what else would you lie about. Have some integrity.

It simply will not work. They will require proof early enough in the testing process. Don't sweat it anyhow, CPD tests about every two years unlike the FD so just try and make it for the next test. CFD will most likely not have a college req. and latest rumor I here is june of 06. P.S. you don't need any residency to take the test, you just need to be a resident by the first day of the academy.

thank you smitty for your advice that is what i was looking for and not a scolding, as for the rest, i have heard of real fire fighters and cops doing worse on the job than just thinking about lying. go yell at your kids not me

I was going to reply but it's not even worth the effort.
