G'day all,
just wondering if it is possible for overseas fireys to work in the USA?
Would be interested in coming across and being a firey in the States,
I am guessing I would probably need a green card and then go into competition with all the other applicants for any positions? Is there any scope for some sort of transfer across? And recognition of prior training?

Thanks.

You will need a green card at the very least (some places require citizenship, but they're the exception to the rule). None of your training will transfer, but you'll probably be able to use your experience to your advantage in the interview process. I know a couple of guys who used to be FFs overseas who work in the US now. Any other questions, PM me, and I'll ask around for you.

Some of your training can transfer if that training is accredited by IFSAC. IFSAC is an international certification that allows for situations like this. But if you don't have the gold seal your going to be at a big disadvantage. Good Luck.
