Depends where you live,

Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood
Ames Community College in Greely
Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs
and there is another up in Eagle & Summit Counties.

I can tell you that Red Rocks is a good school and offers alot of good programs both hands on and classroom. I have been teaching there since 2000 and can tell you that many of the instructors are very experienced firefighters.

Which ever school you look at make sure that they have depth (guys with time on the job). In Colorado once you pass firefighter I you can pretty much go out and teach basic firefighting, look out for the one year wonders!

I know a guy that teaches at Ames and it sounds like another good program as well, guys with time on the job.

Good luck,

GNS

I'll second Red Rocks as having a great program. I went through there and got my FS degree. Now I just need to get hired!

FRFOOL, what do you teach? Did I take your class?!

I am from Colorado too, but I currently live in DC. Although I am on the WMFR and PFA lists and I want to come back after I finish medic class. I also went to red rocks and have mixed feelings about it.

Colorado Moutain College has a pretty good FST program. Down in Eagle River, plus get on with ERFPD while your at it. I just got back from there. I loved it out there. Had a ball, but with all good things - They must come to an end..

I grew up in colorado and unfortunatly had to move away, but I am looking to hopefully go to colorado mountain college for their fs program. I was just wondering if there was a long waiting list for denver fire department, or if there were any stations/schools that you can recommend.

Thanks.

Denver, like any metro fire department, holds a highly selective process. They are currently taking applications. Look it up on google or the link on firehouse.com, if you are a member.

Stations/schools that we can recommend? For what purpose? In what location? Near CMC? Be more specific.

I apologize for the non specifics, and I really am not sure where, just anywhere in the front range area....Any stations that people can reccommend.
