Goshen suspends 2 fire officials
GOSHEN — The town council suspended Fire Chief Jason Keddington and Assistant Fire Chief Richard Wolf following Tuesday's council meeting.
The council is investigating the two men accused of misappropriating town funds. Officials claim the men took an unspecified amount of money — believed to be between $200 and $300, from a nearby natural gas exchange plant.
McKay Stirland, an attorney for the two accused men, said they did nothing out of the ordinary. Stirland said the men were given the money in exchange for filling the plant's water storage tanks and were told at that time to take the money and put it in the fire department's general fund.
Money from that fund is used to buy wedding and birthday gifts for firefighters, candy for parades and other small expenses.
A timetable for completing the investigation was not set.
