Since we are on the topic of animal's... What names from the fire service have you given your pet? My cat's name is Pickles from a book I read when I was a kid called "The Fire Cat" .

The dogs: Bernie and Murphy. They are a lab/spaniel cross, brothers from the same litter. Murphy is a black "slab o' Lab", while Bernie looks like a spaniel. Their dad was a lab, their mom was a brittany/cocker spaniel cross.
The cats: Jake and Mia. They are grey tiger tabbys and brother and sister. We adopted them from a shelter... www.buddydoghs.org
Jake thinks he's a dog. He hangs out with the dogs, will only eat of the dogs are eating, and sleeps with the dogs, too. He asndf the dogs get along well.
It's funny, Mia sticks to my wife like velcro.. must be the only females in the house/meow meow sisterhood thing going! She avoids the dogs and the men in the house (my son and I) as much as possible, except for feeding time...then she becomes real "lovey-dovey".

I have 2 cats, the Wife named them both when were dating. Both were abandoned, at different times, where I used to live, so we took them in.
Thomas O'Malley is named after a character in the Aristocats (or so my wife tells me) since he has a whit stripe on his leg just like tha character does. Since he is 19 pounds I also call him "Chub Chub" or Fat Boy. Great cat though. As big and fat as he is, he can still move pretty darned fast. He was quite the hunter in the day, used to get a wide variety of gifts from him on the doorstep.
Noisebox (aka Noisey!) is the little guy. His name tells it all, when we took him in he would not stop making noise in one way or another. Now he meows to let you know that he wants a lap to lie down in.
Both are great cats and allow us to reside in the house with them. When we are acutally going to be able to get a house, I want a Bull Mastiff and the wife wants a Finnish Spitz. Someday I'll own a house. Someday.....

Rilee is our Golden Retreiver. Samson is the feline representative in the house. He used to be part of the tandem of Samson and Delilah, but alas, Delilah is no longer with us.

My dog was named after a dog in a veterinary "true stories" book. Same breed, same characteristics. My vet laughed when I told him that and then read the book for curiosity. Now he's hooked on the series. A fire related name just wouldn't fit my dog. The closest would be Stop, drop and snore:D

No fire service names here. Mu house/farm must be the dropping vortex for my county. Ebrything shows up. Have yet to not take on in or find a home for it. The black lab is Midnite. She was a lucky pup. Came home Christmas Eve and went to barn to check on everybody and heard a whining noise comeing from an outbuilding. Guess what time it was we we found her. Yep Midnite. She has been in the house warm evry since. That was 11 years ago. Now my only house cat is named Scarface. I have a Halloween/birthday party every year. While sitting and the hay bales around the fire and getting smashed of my but this long haired cute little kitten jumped on my lap and made herself right at home. She had been in a fight somewhere and had blood on her face, hence the name. Now I did have 3 cat that are now dead that I brought home as kittens that were to young to eat on their own. Bottle fed them. They came from a structure fire, no momma cat around. They were Ashes, Smoke, and Flame. All 3 are now gone. The other handful of cats, to many to count, all stay in the barn and the other dog is at the inlaws. People must know we do not believe in killing animals so they bring them to use. Gets expensive to have them fixed but I don't want to keep making them. You would think that they would earn their keep in the barn. Yeah right. They eat better than I do thanks to the girlfriend.

When I was about 8 years old my dad went to an MVA one night and all occupants of the car were DOA. Except the dog. We had no idea what breed it was. Dad brought it home from the wreck, so we called it "Rescue."

I've got a mutt. She's a beagle/dachsund/basset hound named Melony, and right around 10 years old now. I used to have a picture of her hosted on some webspace, but I later removed it so I can't link to it. (Basically, no pictures. ;) )

Where the heck do I start?
My dog is named Aliera (black & tan daupple dachshund)
My ferret is named Lameth.
The rest are my wife's animals:
Cat named Celeste
Dog named Anna (a Catualla or something like that)
Pygmy Goats named Maddox, Rosie, Jasmine (I call her Junior) and another one she has a name for that escapes me but I call her Blackie.
Two geese named something I don't really care about
12 ducks with various names.
I'm not going to post all the other animals that she has had in the past such as the sugargliders, chinchillas, large amazon bird, various other birds and all the ferrets that we've owned at one time. Also not to mention all the animals that didn't get named because I threw them out when she brought them home such as a large black spider.

My dog is a black Lab, no fire service name. "Quincy" is 10 years old now. He was named from my favorite T.V. show when I was a kid--Coach. Quincy was the name of Luther's Bassett Hound...
I will never have any dog other than a Lab...best dogs in the world, IMO.:)

My 2 year old cats name is Skooter(no, it's not spelled wrong)
He's named Skooter, well because Skooter scoots away from everyone. He hides if there is company and if you look at him he freezes with an expresion "Oh, no they see me...must hide must hide." Then runs away. He doesn't like anyone unless you have food or me. He insists on being in any room I'm in~including the bathroom~and sleeping in my bed. But his nick name is Oink Oink and/or Piglet, because he loves to eat especially human food. And if you don't give him any he passes out in front of you and plays dead, or he'll lick your elbow with sad eyes. I LOVE ME LITTLE KITTEN WITTEN, HE'S MY BABY!:D
Ok going to give him kisses now...

Well....I had a kitten that I adopted that was stray and hung around our fire house when I worked on a military base. He really had a personality and I called him Buster. Not a fire name...but it fit...
Recently (1st week in may)My girlfriend called me from work and told me that what we had thought to be a stray cat that was hanging out behind her station had a litter of kittens and apparently something had gotten all of them but one. One morning they found the mom and kittend on floorboard of ambulance and she would not let anyone near the vehicle but my girlfriend...first cat I ever hear growl.
I went by the station and we managed to coax mom out and she was very friendly and purring. She ate food and milk we gave her. I was actually able to get within a few inches of the kitten and mom would be ok as long as I was petting her. Well...we got the mom and put her in a box and I got the kitten and in the box she went.
Took em home and them mom was obviously comfortable in the house as she went right to the litter box. Within an hour I was holding the kitten and mom was sitting beside me...
So we adobted them...... Mom is SMOKEY....(she is jet black) and the kitten is BACKDRAFT...(she is gray)

I have a 5 year old black lab who is about 90lbs. No fire name, but his name is Shadow. This is due to the fact he follows me everywhere and attacks any male that gets near me. If I'm in the shower he lays outside the door, laying on the bed.. so is he, at the computer...laying on the floor next to me. This is the first lab I've had but now I wouldn't have it any other way. Just wish I could bring him to the station with me.

Got a Shih Tsu/Terrier mix named Chopper. He is a real character.
It took us a couple of years to get another dog. We had a dachsund for 17 years and loved him dearly. I had to take him to the vet to have him put to sleep. Hardest thing I have ever had to do.
But Chopper is all dog. Very loyal. Lots of pup in him. Can't understand why the Siamese cat (Bucky) doesn't want to play.
He is 8 months old; shaggy; housebroken and understands basic commands already.
What's interesting about him is that his lower teeth stick out a little, so when you look at him, it looks Thurston Howell III from "Gilligan's Island". In fact; I'm certain that if Chopper could talk, he'd sound just like Mr. Magoo!

I have a Welsh Corgi named Bunkers. His legs and bottom are white, tan and white above. Looks like he's wearing pants. Most of the neighborhood kids think his name is Bonkers, 'cause that's how he gets when he plays.
