Wow, that is some story!

I am surprised that these posting don't get audited before they get viewed by the public.

Enough is enough with this crap.

Hmmm... methinks something is fishy.... if you look at the bid history, you'll see that the first 5 bids are all from the same person.

Whoever buys or bids on this item is a bigger idiot then the one selling it. Haunted coin....Righhhhhhhhht. This is too funny.

Oh WOW.....

I was born yesterday and really believe that the coin didn't come out of your pocket and the scratches weren't done with a knife....

Ignore this mutt. Any fool who legitimately bids on this deserves exactly what they get.... a coin scratched with a nail.

Not only are the first 5 bids by the same person, but the times he bid on the coin were about a minute apart for all 5 of them, he started bidding at 10:25 and the 5th and last time was 10:26. I think im reporting this one.

Also, strangely enough, both people who are bidding have "just become ebay members in the last two weeks"... G*D some people are freakin' idiots...

This is the sick part about this whole thing. at some time the seller added this:
I decided to donate 15% of the auction to a 9-11 charity of the buyers choice. If you do not know of one I will choose one for you. If the auction reaches $250 i will donate 20% If the auction reches $350 or more I will donate 25% I will give the buyer some form of proof.

I bet that no charity gets a penny.

Oh my god. That's the funniest thing I've ever seen. How stupid can you be to believe that someone would fall for that load of crap!

What's next? He going to sell his skid-marked underwear and claim these mysterious brown markings are the work of a disgruntled worker at the sweatshop who died.....

If this wasn't such an affront to everything those men on 9/11 died for, I wouldn't feel bad for laughing. I think I'll go report this now.

I just asked the seller a simple question:

What's on the reverse side?

The item appears to be one of the state quarters. On the day of the attacks, there were only 14 states in circulaton and one had been out less than a month. Now there are 32. The odds are good this goober used a coin not released prior to 9/11.

If he bothers to answer my question, I'll post what he says...

The coins are legit. They were recovered from the Iron Mountain vault below the site in the months following 911 and some proceeds from their sale went towards family funds.

June 26, 2005 -- A creep posted an Internet ad claiming to be selling a piece of American Airlines Flight 11 — one of the planes that struck the Twin Towers on 9/11 — for close to $200,000.
The purported seller, who said he came from Adelaide, Australia, posted an auction for what he described as "a piece of turbine blade . . . re covered from a building roof top, 0.5 miles from the attack site" on eBay on Tuesday.
The starting bid was $194,650. The posting — by someone with the eBay handle "jamesp4894" — had no photos of the item. No potential bidders stepped up. But 175 people accessed the page — an unusually high number of hits for an unadvertised item over that period of time. EBay pulled the morbid posting within 48 hours after receiving complaints.
The posting included the following description: "I came into possession of this piece of history after a relative who works in this building, found it months after the attack. "I have kept it for this long as it was a piece of the aircraft that was transporting a very close family friend on this fateful day."
The only Australian on board Flight 11 was 66-year-old Qantas baggage handler Alberto Dominguez of Sydney. His son Diego Dominguez said his family had no knowledge of the item or the purported seller. "It's news to us," Dominguez said. "It doesn't surprise me though. The whole event was so surreal, nothing surprises me. "We've got an urn given to us on Memorial Day in New York, and that's got material from the site in it as a symbolic thing. Can you imagine if someone tried to sell something like that? It's just wrong."
The seller did not respond to multiple e-mails for comment.
"This is the most offensive and disturbing item we've seen yet put up for auction," said Rick Law, producer of the 9/11 Memorial Project in Los Angeles, who tracks custody of all 9/11 aircraft debris. Law, who spotted the auction post soon after it went online and reported it to eBay, said he's not sure if the supposed turbine blade is authentic.
"It's not necessarily out of the realm of possibility," he said. "There is evidence that points to it being fake, like the guy living in Australia, but the story is not so far-fetched. So, the answer is, I don't know."
American Airlines and the NYPD property clerk's office did not comment on the supposed turbine blade. EBay sent a warning to the seller, whom the online auction house refused to identify. "We will not allow people to sell items that are affiliated with or came from the rubble of 9/11," said eBay spokesman Hani Durzy. "The auction was in violation of eBay policy."

I suspect that the Brothers in Adelaide will flush out this idiot real quick - Adelaide is a pretty sleepy place where just about everyone knows everyone else. Not impressed that this person was a fellow Aussie:mad:
