North Carolina has a process for transferring Paramedic, but you have to be certified in another state or NREMT, AND have a letter from an agency that says that upon certification, you will be hired to work for them.

South Carolina is National Registry. If you move there and do not have NREMT status, you are required to get NREMT certified within one year.

Best bet is to check the EMS office sites.

As for firefighter, you can get FF I/II in SC if you have one of the national boards' certification.

Actually Sharkie all you need to work in SC is your state card, national registry is nice but unless you are a federal firefighter you can get a job at all without the state card.
As far as fire certs go SC is an IFSAC state, as long as you have IFSAC or Pro Board the most you would have to do is challenge the test. You can call the Fire Academy for more info 1800-896-1070

btw email me at truck12irons@yahoo.com I know of a few job openings on depts around the state.

Ah ha. Last time I looked at SC, when I was applying to grad school, they said that you needed to get the NREMT cert. after a while. You could work as a Paramedic, but needed to get the cert within a set amount of time, if you didn't have it.
