Calling conspiracy theory...

You don't see police officers carrying batons in their hands very often just walking down the street.

This has "planned spontaneous event" written allllllll over it!

Heck, you don't even see that many who carry anything other than collapsible batons today!

Even back 15, 16 years ago when I worked for the State Parks the seasonals who were authorized to carry batons where trained not to walk around swinging or playing with them!

=======================

All time favorite COPS moment though remains a foot chase in either Broward or Dade County (can't remember now!)...all of a sudden the Deputy pulls a pair of numchucks out off his belt and takes out the guy right below the knees! Couldn't even imagine an officer being authorized to carry them in Connecticut!

I remember several episodes of COPS where on the beginning a cop was doing a little trick with his wooden batton. It had a leather strap attached to it and he was doing some kind of spinning crap with it. I guess the 'bad guys' were supposed to be impressed.

Stupid people deserve beatings.

It looks like the cop pulled PR-24 somewhere from his belt,
not carrying it in hand.

Great video, thanks!

There is no possibility that this is real.

The Use of Force Continuum basically states that an officer can use force (among other things) to defend hiself or others, or to overcome the resistance during a lawful arrest. The use of force must be appropriate to the circumstances. There are lesser levels of force to be used before he chooses a weapon.

If, this were real, the cop would be indicted for Aggravated Assault. He had no legal basis for initiating the use of force.

I think George is right on this one.

I remember an episode of COPS where an officer hit a man (who was armed with a brick) in the back with a collapisble baton. Dropped him quick,, I was impressed.

We carried the ASP. I was with another detective on a chase and arrest, Yeah, he ran him down, I was not even close, too old), and the suspect started to kick the officer during the fight. The other detectve hit him twice with the ASP. The guy cried like a baby. Told the ED doc that he was beaten with a pipe.

The ASP is designed to be used on the long bones and on pressure points. The pain and subsequent compliance comes from the pressing of the nerves against the bones. While there may be some bruising, the ASP limits the bone damage, because it is hollow.

Again. There is no way this is real.

A buddy of mine taught classes in the art of using the ASP.
I would see him and ask him "what's up"? And he would say "ASP class". Say that fast ten times.
He was a good guy, but every now and then, he's get a bug up his ASP!:D
Sorry; couldn't resist.

I tend to agree that it looks staged to me. Still funny though. :D

And hey, if it deters some other punk kids from trying to pull a stupid prank on the police, more power to it. :)

That has got to be a fake as no cop would just start whoppin his a$$ right off the gate .........but must admit would be most deserved !

It could be fake, how offen does a real police officer
(not security guard) patrol a total empty business park
like that and those dudes have their car perfectly parked
just for the right shot.

Regardless, it was funny. Thanks for sharing.
