Does your Department have Commendations/Awards and what do you think about it

I was wondering if your department has commendations or awards given to its members for acts of bravery, selflessness, public service, etc? Our department does not have this form of appreciation and I was wondering what you thought about your department doing or not doing this.

Also what awards/commendations are awarded or might be awarded if they are earned/recoginzed?

Our Local gives out Firefighter of the Year award however this is not recognized by the Fire Department.

We don't hand out awards. It takes a team to do what we do. Some of our firefighters have been recognized by the community (They deserved it too), but if it weren't for the other members of the department taking care of their role these firefighters would not have been in the position to do what they did. Team effort. Congrats to all.
