Are there any NFPA standards regarding the amount of water flow or standards for water supply?

Thanks Barb

If I remember correctly, the National Fire Academy teaches total flow requirements by using this formula: square footage (LxWxH) divided by 100. So if you have a one story building that is 50x50, calculate 50x50x12=30,000. Then divide by 100= 300 GPM needed. Hope this helps!

NFPA 1142: Standard on Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting

Try contacting your local or state fire academy to see if you can get a copy of the standard so you do not have to order it.

Hope this is what you were looking for.
