I am attending my very first FDIC.. Thursday - Saturday exhibition pass. Going with my friend who used to sell Phoenix Rescue Tools... so I am sure he will find ways to get me into trouble while I am out there!

There is a Toughman competition that starts pretty early, the Brothers from Indy Metro will be setting-up around noon on Wed.

If you head towards Hooters after you leave the Dome, you will more than likely be on time!!!!

You won't find any mention of the "Bash" in your FDIC program........ Long story, ask around!:p

Stan, I'm at the "Comfort Inn & Suites City Center" - apparently it's only a block or so from the convention center which makes life a lot easier as I won't have a vehicle (I didn't feel like experimenting with driving on the wrong side of the road again:D ). Just about everything starts and finishes at, or is at the convention center by the look of it, so that will be good. I'm doing some stuff with FDTN on the Saturday/Sunday so I'm staying out on the Eastern edge of Indy close to their facility for a couple of days and then I move into the Comfort Inn on the Sunday night, and I'm there for the week - fly out the following Sunday back to NYC then the loooong flight home. I've got a 64 kilo/140lb checked baggage limit and I intend to use it to bring a heap of gear back to Oz:D I asked the guys to give me a list of things that they want me to get for them, and the first thing they all said - in perfect unison - was "new engine":D as ours is about as reliable as a Trabant. Not quite sure how I'm going to fit that into the baggage limit, but I'll work on it. Not quite sure how I'm going to go checking in some 6 foot ceiling hooks either, but I'm going to try as the break-apart ones that we use down here in Australia are the most useless thing that was ever carried on a fire truck.

Whereabouts are you staying? Anything you want me to bring up for you from Oz?

I wonder if I can persuade them to let me pack a Haligan ProBar in my carry-on?:D Would save some of my checked baggage weight for more goodies if I can:D

My company is sending me. I may take in a couple seminars...but...if you never been to Indy and FDIC before....you will have to agree that it takes almost the entire time the exhibits are open to see everything...

Being the gear geek (quartermaster), EMS supply guy and a member of our apparatus purchase committee, Indy is a fantastic way to gain a ton of info and wade through some of the B.S. you hear from local reps. I'll likely spend as much time in the trade show part of it as possible.

Luckily we're going out Wednesday very early, so I hope to catch a bunch of classes on Wednesday and Thursday. Only five more days of work until Indy! I'm like a kid at Christmas.
