FDNY? info on testing

Very interested in tsting with fdny and what to know waht to look for and what does it take to get thru the oral. Waht helps on resume and what doesn't, does it help to have alot of certs or being a paramedic, anything to get on top.

On other note does anyone know how to get info for Chicago fire dept? thanks

Oral? Resume? Certs? These things have nothing to do with the FDNY testing procedure.

New York City Residency, Veteran and Legacy Credits

Five additional points will be awarded to the final adjusted score for those who meet New York City residency requirements.

Five additional points will be awarded to the final adjusted score for those who meet veteran requirements.

Ten additional points will be awarded to the final adjusted score of the children of a parent who has died in the discharge of his/her duties as a uniformed member of FDNY, NYPD, NY Transit Police, NY Housing Police, or NY City Dept of Correction.

Sam, What would a perfect score be? Or is the score unlimited based on better physical scores?

Perfect score on the written is 100
Perfect score on the physical is 100
Those two are averaged, your extra credits (residency 5 pts, military 5pts, legacy 10pts) are added, then some weird normalizing formula is applied.

In theory, the highest score would be 120. But they normalize the scores so it depends on how everybody else did.

If you get 100 and 100, but have no credits, you'll be like #2000 on the list. I believe the #1 on list 2043 had like 120.5 or something. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks, I hope that there would be VERY few guys to get 120 then, 110 though shows dedication and loyalty to city and country! ;) 120 shows that plus saddness.

Lists last for four years from date of establishment. List 2043 expires May of 2008 I think.
