So I am trying to copy some files to a cd but it seems my cd player/writer is not recognizing the cd as writeable. and when I check the capacity of the disc in the player it shows that is full and i know it is blank. It plays cd's fine just having a problem with the copying part. Any one have a clue on what the problem is? I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and updated the drivers. Still no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rigin

Are the disks formatted already? that could be one problem. Also, what program are you using to write to the disk?

Does your software allow direct copying of files to the CD or do you have to write them using a certain software package?

Thanks for the replies. Seems Windows Service Pack 2 was having issues with a couple programs. So I uninstalled SP2 and all is well.

Thanks again for the replies,

ok, so I have another question about RW discs. I want to record the tunes my bagpipe teacher gives me at my lessons. Sometimes it's a month or more before I get another new tune to learn. If I've recorded all the tunes I've learned so far on a RW disc, then wish to record another tune, will the recording program move to unrecorded area of the disc, and record the new tune at that point? Or, will it simply write over the already recorded music?

Did any of that make sense?

It should just add it to the CD, although if it has the same filename it will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing files.

and again, it will depend on the software you are using to write the CD with.

Use R for recording music to get a good play back.

RW can be use for documents and that works best.
