What did you all get this year?
I got a bunch of tools, tools that I need. I remember back when I was a little kid I wanted everything and it really didnt take much time to think of what all I wanted but now days it takes a while to figure out what I want for Christmas. I couldnt of had any better, I got to spend the day with my family, and we had a quiet day finally at the fire house (only one fire run.)
Well I hope everyone had a great day, so post some of the things you got.

I got 12 hrs vacation! :) and a white Christmas (kinda unusual for W Tennessee).
Spent all day with my wife and kids and wouldn't have cared if I didn't get anything myself except a good meal.
My crew had two calls earlier today and one since I came on tonight, but nothing serious. I hope we're done.

I got the best gift of them all. I was able to rush from work and make it home in time to wake up my daughter and watch her open her Christmas presents. That's all I needed.

I got some fire-related books, Spider Man 2 on DVD, a little bit of money, and lots of other random stuff, with some of it being junk.
I worked all day on Christmas, and had about 4 calls. We had to ride back and forth between our station and the main station for coverage, supplies and fuel. Didn't get much free time or sleep. I opened all of my presents on Christmas Eve.

I got SimCity 4, The Sims mega deluxe, espresso cups, some Red Wings memorabilia and a pair of ruby earrings. There is still a big package at home that I don't get to open until we go back to NY. I just got a new laptop, so I have never played many video games, I can't wait to mess with people's lives in the sims!!

Christmas Day my dad called to let me know that my cousin is really sick and might only be with us for a few more months. I guess it was about 15 years ago we found out he was HIV positive, probably contracted from a girl he had a relationship with in Saskatchewan while he was in the Air Force. I guess he was able to pinpoint it quite accurately. I just never thought he would get really sick and die from it. Maybe it has just been kept quiet if/when he's gotten really sick before. I had been planning on calling him Christmas Day to see if he wanted to get together for lunch, thought I'd take the ferry over for the day, or stay with him and his wife overnight, but didn't phone because I got the call from my dad saying how sick he was, and that he didn't have his phone turned on. I don't even know if he's too sick to get together at all now :( *sigh*
Dad also let me know that their mom almost lost her life from liver complications during recovery, after getting knee surgery in Germany. My youngest cousin flew over to Germany on Christmas Day. I think she is out of danger now. Not devastating, she hasn't been a part of our lives in 20 years, but sad because she is my cousins' mom.
My sister's husband has a large family from The Pas, Manitoba. Lot of brothers and sisters. One older brother and his Thai wife have lived for years and years and years on Phuket, Thailand. Maybe they came home to Canada for Christmas. False hope?! Probably :( :( :( Absolutely devastating - I pray they are alive and well.
The good stuff! I got some cashola from my parents, and some clothes. From my sister I got baking (yummmmm shortbread!), cool magnet with painting of Jasper National Park on it, new pics of the nieces and $20. Don't know yet from my brother, he hasn't sent it yet! :D

I got a Kitchen Aid professional blender. Will replace the wedding gift one that is 38 years old and smells up the kitchen like a floresent light ballast every time I make milk shakes.
Also an electronic wireless weather station so I can check the weather at home without going to the office.
Most of all watching the grand kids open presents and play with new toys. It was a challenge to keep coming up with batteries.
Stay safe,
Pete

That sounds like a positve Christmas to me. Wouldn't it be nice if all the sick and wounded could have a Christmas like that. Good for you, Bones.

Some Really neat things have popped up here, and I made a list to inquire/comment about:
Capt. Gonzo; V.F.R?? Is that "Very Funny Ron"?:D
Weruj1: Weird? Yeah............
Ramseycl: Most practical gift yet (Jacket)
Pete: Glad to hear the Milkshakes will smell better, but tell us more about the weather station.
AND, The Train folks can eat their heart out on this one: My wife gave me "Train Master" and "Raildriver 1.4" Software packages. They are a Blast, I've already dumped 3 Coal drags into the River
My lovely bride opened her "Big" present, A Metal Detector, and announced that she was off to the beach A.S.A.P.
Christmas Weekend (Fri/Sun) was fairly calm, with 38 calls (mostly EMS) over the 72 hours.
But, The best for last, Our family is healthy and happy, and there really isn't anything else that I could ask for them, But a Safe and Speedy return of our Troops is on my mind.
My last comment?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

VFR: visual flight rules, which allows one to fly in good weather day or night. A separate rating (in other words... mo' money!) must be obtained to learn to fly under IFR: instrument flight rules
Happy Gnu Year to you, too! :D
