I was wondering if anyone in the state could point me in the direction where I could get my hands on just a few helments. I have been able to peice together enough turn-outs to outfit my certified guys, but I am still missing a few helmets. Any help would be appreciated.

Howdy, welcome to the forums. Where are you located and what is the name of your department? We received a grant two years in a row and have some extra good used helmets.

My name is Chief Speight, and we are the Bentonia Volunteer Fire Dept located in southern Yazoo Co. about 20 minutes north of Jackson. We are a small dept., but our area of responsibility is about 120 square miles. All that area and an annual budget from the county of $9000.00. If you think you could help us out drop me a line at 662-571-6750 (Cell). Thanks

RKSP88,
Sorry we didn't have more to send over with Brent. We might have a few more items in a couple of months.
(did ya like the almost new "white hat"? It was hardly ever worn. LOL)
Anyway, I also sent word that I will help with a grant if you need it. Let me know.

Lemme give you all another idea.
Mississippi allows you only TWO funraisers per year.
This means you can only trade product or services for money (AKA - boston butts, BBQ, carwashes) two times.
However, you can accept a DONATION (no trade of goods or services) anytime 24/7/365.
What our department does is go to our (only) 4-way stop and set up for our "boot drives". We stand and ask for donations which the people place in a fire boot.
After a few times, they now pull to the stop line with a dollar or dollars in hand.
And this is NOT a real fundraiser so we can still do the other things.
BTW - this is usually done on a Friday from 4 til 6pm and nets us over $1000.00 each time.
That's four helmets from www.thefirestore.com with change left over.

Chief:
Have contacted Helping Our Own (http://helpingourown.org)? They may be able to provide assistance. HOO aranges equipment donations to fire departments with annual budgets of less then $15,000.

never mind. I replied to an old post.
Speight is no longer Chief from what I'm told.
