Streamlight changed the design of the Survivor light a few years back to include a new quick change battery. Used to be practically imposible to swap batteries w/o tools, now you just flip open the latch and drop out the battery. My guess is that you have a second generation battery and you need a 1st gen.

Is the clip on your light metal or plastic?
Survivor lights with the metal belt/coat clip on them are the aforementioned 1st generation lights. The lights with the plastic belt/coat clip are the newer (2nd generation) lights.

There is a retro-fit battery for those I just did my departments ones and they do use the pins, did the new battery come in a plastic bag with two new pins a new bottom part and the battery?? The new battery is keyed so it goes in one way as for the bottom part that way attach only one way and the lastly the pins are a pain replacing you will get one in and the other will fight you going in.

The Streamlight part number for the old style battery is 90120. These are for the Survivor lights with the metal belt/coat clip.
