Since many of us have pets that are smarter and more attractive than we are, I say it's time for some new "mug shots". Here is my 8 month/80 pound German Shepherd, Homer.:D

Here's a pic or our Cat/Son, ROCK.
Rock was 12 years old when we first saw him at a Petsmart store in Baton Rouge. My girlfriend and I had gone there to adopt a guinea pig only to find that there were none available. While most people are quick to adopt cute little kittens, older cats are often overlooked. The elegant way this "old man" carried himself attracted us to him. We have had Rock for 3 years now and he is an integral part of our lives. I hope everyone gets as much joy from their pets as we do from ours.

Hey 430, I watched The Holy Grail on DVD Wed night!! One of my all time favs! :D:D

Anyhow, here is my Boy, Nikita - purebred Alaskan Malamute, and all of about 150lbs! On Tuesday night I was across the road at the neighbours, sipp'n beer, and he decided that he wanted to join us. The Rotten Bugger hooked the gate latch not once BUT FOUR separate TIMES to open the gate! And that was even after I put a "D" hook on the latch. Then he got real mad, and knocked down part of the fence in the back yard to get out. BLOODY DOG!!! :D:D:D

Hogan's on the left - he's a pound dog, about 18 months old, and about 50lb. He appears to be a retriever/something smaller mix.

Red Dog is the old man on the right. My husband picked him up as an adult stray in 1992, so we figure he's at least 14. He's a 75lb setter/retriever mix.

We have a 5 year old Beagle. Sam is the apple of our eye. He taught himself to go to his kennel as soon as he heard the tones. I also use to take him to the local elementary school to perform Stop, Drop and Roll. I had to quit taking him due to allergies in the school but he sure got the message home to the kids. All the kids know Sam the Beagle Man. If he were ever loose in town it wouldn't take long to find him!!

There sure are some wonderful looking animals on this board.:)

Casper is the White one, she's girl, but we didn't know that till after we named her. Indy is the black one, he was found on the Fourth of July(Inpedendence Day), and so we called him Indy. A good friend of mine runs a rabbit rescue in RI, she has lots of buns that have been abandoned, set free etc. So if anyone wants a bunny, please check her out out at Sweet Binks Rabbit Rescue (http://www.rirabbits.org)

Bunnies are great pets, as I'm sure ThNozzleman will agree. They can be litter box trained and they are very sociable animals, but they need lots of attention, so don't get a bunny to just keep it in a cage or hutch. That is just cruel.

Yeah, but he's still rather grumpy at times. I had to name him louie, since the lizards are louie and frank, and my fathers name and mine is Frank, so i had to use louie.

Here's my cat Pumpkin, he's half american short-hair, half ninja. He likes to hide and attack. He also knows difference between rescue and fire tones, if he's in my lap he tenses up when the tones start, if its a fire call he'll bail (even if I'm not going and I don't move), rescue tones he'll relax

This is Mattydale, our 1 year old black lab. She keeps us on our toes alot but I guess you can look at that as exercise. Now if I can just get her to go in her crate when the pager goes off.

Now if I can just get her to go in her crate when the pager goes off.

Unconsciously, we taught Sam by grabbing him by the collar, shoving him in his kennel, sreaming good boy, Sammy and throwing him a treat. It wasn't a planned method, just a reaction to the tones.
:(

Not the greatest method. We realized what we had done one day when the tones went off. We were immediately cancelled and realized the dog was gone. Looked everywhere.....there he was, pleased as punch sitting in his kennel. So Sam got a treat and we got a wake up call as to what we had done to our beloved hound.

:D When the tones go out for our station, Niki knows the difference between Us 'n Them ("Them" being Mill Bay or Shawnigan Lake :D). If its for us, he heads for the living room and under my desk, because he knows thats the only place in the house I am going to go into on my way out the door.

Good Dog/Smart Dog. :D

Now if only I could teach the cats not to leave "take off marks" when they are curled up asleep on my chest when the tones go...... OOOUUUCCCCHHHHHHH....
