That is a crazy situation. From what I read, there really is a problem with union labor leaders and some politicians. Free health insurance? Give me a break. (And if you don't know me, I'm a retired Career F/F and a former IAFF member) Anybody know what the call volume is for those 9 stations? This place needs new leadership (political) and major policy overhaul.

Thanks CB, A little insight goes a long way. I'm just totally amazed that places like that have Career departments. Here, We are roughly 10 times that population over 430 Sq miles, 48 stations, operated by approximately 700 Career folks with about 1750 active Volunteers. Our Engine 33 is the Second busiest Engine in America, (according to FH) and it is a totally Volunteer station. I don't know what they did last year, but around 8,000 is a good ballpark figure
