Well Stayback has some company.....

It seems today that my brain left me for a bit, the only problem was I wasn't aware it was gone.

I spent the morning opening up the pool. Adding shock, starting the filter, a pain in the bumm, but necessary and quickly done.

After the pool was set, wifey and I had a discussion about the 1 oak tree that provides our shade in the pool area. Long story short, a couple branches had to go. So out comes the chain saw and the six foot step ladder. So far no major issues. I climb the ladder which is resting against the tree and begin to cut a large branch. For some reason I decided to undercut it first. BAD MOVE. As I was finishing the top cut the branch dropped and bound up the blade, so I goosed the saw..........

The next thing I remember was a feeling like Babe Ruth hitting a home run, only using my leg for the bat. Then the ladder fell over. As I was laying on the ground, trying to figure out who was working at the station - so I knew whether to call or not, it took about five minutes for me to be able to move my left leg. As far as I can tell nothing broke. I may not dance for a bit, and I also am giving the 1 finger salute with my right hand.

Everyday you learn something, sometimes its things you already knew....

Well I am glad that your brush with the tree and temporary carelessness left you unscathed for the most part. So how far did your home run go? And what did your wife have to say about that one?

Get better.

:D

Dave....

Did you forget it was my turn to have the brain today? You should have told me that you needed it for your yardwork...the highlight of my day was stripping the deck to prep for new stain amd paint... a task that hardly required the use of the old cranial contents!

PS: glad to see you are okay!

For the record, the branch is gone....the one next to it is gone...and the tree was almost gone. I highly recommend Poulan chainsaws, you can drop 'em from 8' and they still work fine.

And to think I was concerned about cutting something off instead of falling.....sheez. I am glad I have a fence around my yard.

I thought that truckies were experts at working on ladders with power tools:D

Dave you are far from the only one. I have to repair some shingles on my roof this afternoon...it could be ugly.

Funny how you think who is working when you get hurt.;)

Dave,

Didn't something similar happen last year when cleaning up your yard??

A couple of years ago I was brilliant enough to put a ladder on top of a counter to try to install a camera.....

After dislocating my shoulder and tearing up my knee, I caught the thief without the camera I was trying to install...

I'm glad you didn't get hurt worse!!:o

Somebody hand me a spanner... I've just joined the group. I was so inspired by StayBack and Dave that I had to find an opportunity to experience some pain for myself.

While moving a sofa from the garage to the basement I managed to drop it on my foot. I did, however, pick it up again after a few choice words and get it into the house. This is where we discovered that it won't fit around the corner to get into the basement, so back out to the garage it goes.

Now, I couldn't let my wife know that her big strong Rev was in pain so I said nothing... I think the swelling and deep purple discoloration gave me away though.

She took me to the ER (at the hospital where I work - just to add insult to injury) and now I'm on crutches for the next week or so. Fortunately nothing is broken (on me or the sofa).

Anyone need a sofa?

My coworkers were rather disappointed that I don't have a "signable" cast so they've taken to writing messages on Post-It notes and sticking them to my foot

Can I go home now?
