Swans are easy to control when they try to attack you. I used to have one, along with several geese. When they charge you, grab their neck, then pick them up. Their bites can be a bit pesky though (if you don't catch the swans correctly).

Ok. So after you grab them by the neck to stop them, then what do you do? Pet it and say nice things to calm it down? I would think that as soon as you let go, it will be even more pissed off and try to kill you? Or do you just clobber it with a shovel or something?;)

After I grabbed the neck, I would pick it up and put it under my arm and carry it down to the pond. I would throw the swan and it would fly until it decided to land in the pond. If I didn't carry it to the pond, I would just throw it and it would fly off somewhere and not bother me again.

If it comes back, just keep catching and throwing it until you can get away.

I don't much care for NASCAR, but you're pretty close with the redneck part. That good ol' swan thought he was hard. If you got to close to him, he would hiss at you and charge you. It wasn't something I did for fun. It was more for personal protection.

You have to learn at an early age how to protect yourself from killer farm animals.

another option after you grab them by the neck, swing the bird like a baseball bat, hit the ground with them, hit a tree, ect...pre-heat oven to 350 pluck feathers, gut'em, put'em in a roaster pan with some taters'n carrots, baste'em every now and then, pop open a cold one call some friends over and enjoy......or throw'em in a big ole hot pot'o peanut oil, fry'em 3 minutes per pound until golden brown:D :rolleyes: :D

LOL ladder that's one good use for the feathers. Notice how high she grasped the neck on that bird to conform it to her neck.

No silly, that's her trophy gown. That bird was rubbed ever so gently with a cajun seasoning, fried to a delicious golden brown, and was consumed with a copious ammount of frosty beverages.

We actually ate one of them one year. Grabbed it and strung it up by the feet. Grabbed it's neck, cut off it's head, and watched it honk until it couldn't honk anymore. Then we baked it like a turkey and devoured it. Too bad we didn't get the mean one.
