Well the day has come and passed.... I had "tea with the Admiral" this morning. He decided that today was a good day to do a promotion, and having been so decreed it was done.

So effective 20 May 2004, I was promoted to Master Corporal by Rear Admiral Forcier, Commander, Maritime Forces Pacific with assistance from my boss, Major Chuck Grenkow.

Anybody ever tell you that you look like Groucho Marx?

Seriously, good for you bud. What rank is a "Master Corporal" equivalent to down here in the US military?

LOL Thanks - not sure about the Groucho thing LOL but thanks all the same. The rank is about equal in pay grade to a Sgt E5, I think... roughly $2900.00 a month USD.

I was just thinking "Wow! He even looks Canadian!"

Am I the only one with the sick twisted sense of humor that gets a laugh out of "Rear Admiral" or am I the only one brave enough to post it?

And just what exactly is a Rear Admiral ?

I don't know Canadian ranks but the U.S. ranks are as follows:

Rear Admiral Lower Half= Brigadier General (*)
Rear Admiral Upper Half= Major General (**)
Vice Admiral= Lieutenant General (***)
Admiral= General (****)
Admiral of the Fleet= General of the Army (*****)

Firefighter1219, perfect translation. The ranks for the Officer corps in both the Canadian and US forces translate very well. :D
