We are in the process of spec-ing a vehicle exhaust removal system in our existing station. Our City's building inspector and engineer say that "sealed" (sealed by a professional engineer or architect) drawings are required for the State mechanical permit. The 2 companys that we are considering (Plymovent & Nederman) both say that sealed drawings are not required and that they have installed hundreds of systems without sealed plans.

Does anyone have any experience on this? I (we) don't want to spend extra thousands of dollars for sealed plans that are not required.

Thanks in advance.

I work in Flint,MI and all 6 of our firehouses have the Nederman system. I personally cannot speak on the sealed plans but can speak on the reliability of the system. Nederman has been very responsive to any problem we have had. Just thought I'd share that with you.

We just got one installed here in Ohio,(Plymovent) I have never heard of any sealed building drawings. There is a dept here that has a Nedermans and they dont like them ....... we do like the Plymovent.

Same here..being from Ohio, we just had a Plymovent system installed in our small volunteer station, it was the best purchase our department has ever made in the 18 years I've been on. I did all the spec writing and research for our system and never heard of "sealed" plans...must be a Michigan thing.
