As many of you know, there's a little Stayback on his/her way to our residence. Danny...our first youngster...will be moving out of the nursery and into his "Big Boy Room", complete with fire engine "Big Boy Bed" (He's 3). Much to his excitement, I told him Dad would make his new room look like a fire station. This is where you come in...I need ideas!!!

(What I've got so far...I'm going to build an elevated "Watch desk" for homework someday...then there'll be a little door from the "Watch desk" to a pole that I'm going to attach to the joists - a three foot slide. I've got an old hydrant to set in the corner and I'm going to attach a short section of 2 1/2" that he can run to the "engine" {bed}. Radio Shack AC red lights in the corners wired to a switch and...........)

BTW...the pole and red lights are GONE the first time he brings home a girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say also get a "station" intercom system. Too bad RS doesn't make one that does the old "Emergency" tones at the beginning of a message:D

To go along with the pole and red lights when he's older, might as well, put a CAFS in so he can throw foam parties too;)

Well, gee StayBack.....of course your kid has to have a sign..just NOT a stop sign.

That's my Room-Fireman Themes (http://thatsmyroom.com/theme.php4?Theme=Fireman)

You could find an old set of gear to hang on the wall and or get him a set of kiddy gear.

From a Dad who has already done this....boy oh boy can you have fun.

He need a "Crew's Quarters" Sign on the outside of the door. My wife painted fire scenes and murals on the walls of his room. On the wall with the window she painted flames so it looks like thier is flames coming out of them.

He will also need his own locker fo his gear. And find an old brass smooth bore and make a lamp out of it. Check around and see if you can find a old non-functional base radio for his "Watch Desk". Also start a Fire Dept Patch Collection for him. My son loves looking at them (PS I accept any additions if people wnat to donate.)

I'm just trying to figure out how to get some juice to run the Federal Q and not damage it.:D :D

Take some dryer hose, spray paint it yellow and take one of those huge 7-11 soda cups paint it black attach it to the dryer hose for his own plymo vent.

Take an old wooden handle pike pole mount it firmly to the wall(dont want jr useing it for its origianl purpose  ) and then add some pegs for a coat rack.

You could also build a bookshelf in the style of a Gamewell box.

And then it’s getting installed in daddy’ room. :D

Before I was converted, I had a police station bedroom. I had an old phone pad on by door, all the old scanners in the house on my dresser (that hasn’t changed though  ) and pictures of the dispatch consoles on my wall. Wow, I was a geek.

I recently bought a Simplex pull station and modified it to work as my room light switch.

Attach diamond plate to the sides of his dresser, night stand, watch desk, chest of drawers etc etc. Then make him polish it every day since we all know that it has to be shinny. :) Find some old 2216 flat bottom scba bottles that are out of service and make lanps out of them. The converted pull station light switch may or may not be a good idea, could start some bad habits. By the way did anybody read the article on here a week or so ago about the kitchen those firefighters in Ca redid using a lot of diamond plate, and red paint? It looked awesome.

If you can get old shells from helmets that are not used any more fo free of close to free, yo ucould hang them on the wall like in a gear rack?

Just my thoughts.

I have a 7 month old and I just bought a new house so keep the ideas coming as I am also taking notes! LOL! The only question is whether he will enjoy the room as much as I will!

STAYBACK

How could you possibly put lights on a POB (Personaly Owned Bed).

Oh come on, the girlfriend might find the pole and lights quite inspirational...:D

As for the rest of your post, accessories or a collection would be a good way to go. If you really wanted to go whole hog you could find a faux painter and have them paint the walls into a replica of your station.
