Busy day on the e-ways in the Big City and the Little Township today.

We had a semi MVA on 75 just across the state line, extended extrication and Lifeflight transport.

They had a tanker truck fire on the Turnpike.

Pics on the respective websites by Sat. AM :D

Where on the pike and what was it hauling, if one may ask?

The "big city" is kind of an inside joke. It refers to Rossford in Wood County and sometimes Northwood, also in, you guessed it, Northern Wood County.

The fire was on the Turnpike right near the I-75 interchange. The news did not report was in the tanker.

Maybe Weruj1 can fill us in?

I know the tanker fire was burning good. We (Northwood) got called for Mutual Aid, along with Perrysburg Twp. (GASP:eek:

I know our daytime crew reported seeing heavy smoke when they were getting on I-75 3-4 miles north of there. Just staged and got cancelled though.

Everything happens when I'm working.........

I missed probably the biggest MVA in the history of my department today.

Here's what was left of the truck's cab:

Actually, I can place the blame on 159...........

When he worked midnights, he used to miss everything and I would at least get to play after I got off work. Now he's on afternoons, and brought his bad luck with him..........

Moe,

The crews working the semi extrication did an incredible job, the teamwork between all the different agencies working together was awsome.
This was by far the toughest extrication I have ever been a part of.
Morin Point FD's command structure for the call was very good and everyone new their job. The automatic mutual aid agreement has once again shown what a great move this was. Having 2 engines a heavy rescue and 2 squads all pull up together at the same time from both departments was great, manpower and equipment was never an issue on this call.

Welcome to my world Brother!

From everyone I've talked to that was there, we did a fantastic job! Especially for a department that rarely has extrications, let alone a semi that was crushed by 35 tons of steel
