City Seeks to Curb Sidewalk Pit Stops

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- "Go before you go." That's the slogan under consideration for a new campaign in Minneapolis to combat public urination.

The bar business is thriving in the city's Warehouse District, and many patrons are apparently leaving with a full bladder.

The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association plans to spend $10,000 in an effort of convince patrons to use the bar restrooms before they call it a night.

The association's Kim Motes calls public urination a nuisance crime, that makes a mess of their neighborhood.

Public urination is also a civil crime punishable by an $80 fine.

Maybe they should consider increasing the fine to a level that will discourage such behaviour.

I hope this story is from last fall. The temp in Minneapolis is currently -11F with a wind chill of -22F. That could lead to frostbite in areas that should not be frostbitten.:D

It takes one to know one.... I can't get much closer than where I am, surrounded by da woods. Who needs a city sidewalk when a tree works just fine? :D:D

Dunno about Minnesota, but an old friend of mine got caught a local festival in a small town near here taking a leak in the bushes away from the street dance and he got charged with indecent exposure. It doesn't sound that bad...until you find out you have to register as a sex offender.:mad:
This guy was in his junior year of college going after a criminal justice degree...now he can't get hired anywhere. All because there was a 10 minute wait at the porta-jons.

I don't know the date stamp on the article is Jan. 29 2004. I agree with 49. Frostbite aint worth it. Maybe they should just think of the warm spot it could leave in there pants:D

This is a true and most recent thing here in Minneapolis... I am afraid that even with the bitter cold people are still peeing on the side walk...

Maybe if we WERE such a redneck town we would have electric fences and people would pee on those and learn their lessons...

By the way, 27, Houston is a redenck town, Minneapolis is far from it honey...
