You know you're from Jersey when....

You don't think of fruit when people mention "The Oranges".

You know that it's called Great Adventure, not Six Flags.

A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.

You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.

You've eaten at a Diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3a.m.

You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.

At least three people in your family still love BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and you
know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.

You know what a "jug handle" is.

You know that WaWa is a convenience store.

You know that the state isn't all farmland.

You know that there are no "beaches" in New Jersey - there's the SHORE and
you don't GO to the shore, you go "down the Shore". And when you are
there, you're not "at the shore," you are "DOWN THE SHORE".

You know how to properly negotiate a Circle.

You knew that the last sentence had to do with driving.

You know that this is the only "New..."state that doesn't require "New" to
identify i t(like, try...Mexico,...York, ...Hampshire - doesn't work, does
it?)

You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a
fast food sandwich.

You consider putting mayo on a corned beef sandwich a sacrilege.

You don't think "What exit" is very funny.

You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton - that's for
out-of-staters.

The Jets - Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar, make
that Eagles - Giants!

You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.

You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.

Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.

You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening credits.

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.

You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and people
from Central Jersey go to Belmar and people from South Jersey go to
Wildwood.

You weren't raised in New Jersey -- you were raised in either North Jersey,
Central Jersey or South Jersey.

You don't consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.

You remember the stores Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel, Bamberger's
and Orbach's.

You've had a Boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries.

You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.

And finally...

You've NEVER, NEVER pumped your own gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhh yes Jersey............I was there last week. Its the only state where you can go from the scenic and relaxing drive down 72 from Egg Harbor and the GS parkway and its pine trees with deer on the side of the road and end up the urban hell that is Camden and Pensauken.:(

Im going back there (Cherry Hill) either next week or the week after, may God have mercy on my soul.:p

It's great when you get away from here and talk about things like that. 24 hr. diners? Buttered roll? Taylor ham? They look at you like you are nuts.

"Down the Shore" is on the same par with "Down Neck". (People from 49 states scratching their heads and saying "What the hell is Down Neck"?)

I've got no kick against the Garden State.

Love the clam chowder! Hate the Freehold circle!

And I can't forget that my youngest child was born in Toms River, so I guess I'm a bit prejudiced.

Exit 74, GSP used to be home. How did Jersey get stuck with January for a be kind to month, anyway?

Took a summer road trip to south Jersey back in high school. Spent a weekend at a place just outside of Cape May with an evening spent in Wildwood. Nice area, lots of fun, and the fresh crabs are out of this world!

My DC and one of my Lt.'s are from Jersey. They introduced me to Taylor Ham. Cant beat it with an egg on a hard roll. Fantstic stuff!

Quite a few years back, a Northeast wind brought smoke from a large Fire in the Pine Barrens down across Maryland for a couple of days. We got even though. A huge Landfill Fire near Baltimore sent smoke back to Jersey a few months later. We always try to be a good neighbor. Stay Safe....

From the Boylan's website:

" Although we may be the smallest soda company around, our flagship brand "BOYLAN'S ORIGINAL BIRCH BEER" is the most locally loved soft drink of its time. Rich with history, Boylan's Birch Beer started in a apothecary in the early 1890's and developed into the most popular flavor of The Boylan Sodaworks. Boylan was a bottling and keg filling operation located in the heart of Paterson, NJ, the first industrialized city in the country. Competition increased however, and in the 1930's Boylan was forced to close its bottling lines, leaving Boylan's Draught Birch Beer as its only product. Shortly thereafter, the rights to the name, the formula, and the sole route was purchased by the driver. He, by himself, was responsible for pulling Boylan's Draught Birch Beer from near extinction to a beverage that is enjoyed by thousands at Fourth of July parades, town picnics, hot dog stands and many good times. His reward for this accomplishment was a 7 day - 80 hour work week, but he would have it no other way. In appreciation of our grandfather's effort, we honor him with this bottling project."

Simply the finest soft drink around these here parts!

That it is, Ed. The problem is finding it. Not too many places carry it and as the supply is limited, when I do find it, I tend to keep that information to myself. :D :D

Excellent point. Who wants to go live in a place with no Snow, Ice, Cold Winds, Noreasters, Alberta Clippers, and.... well.... You know, all the FUN STUFF that we have up here. My late father had an interesting angle to Southern Living though. Some years back, Dad was already eightysomething, when a neighbor asked "Earle, When you gonna retire and move to Florida? Dad said "I am retired, and I'm not moving down there to live with a bunch of old people" The Siren started winding up and he headed for the Firehouse. George, you'll love Roanoke, Great town. Stay Safe....
