Looking for a little info, trying to clear up some details:

2 Firefighters were killed during a rope rescue operation. 1 Firefighter was trapped and 2nd firefighter (Larry Fitz maybe) was lowered for rescue. During rescue rope failed and both firefighters were killed. Can any FDNY Brothers shed any light? I know Dennis Smith refers to it in one of his books.

Thanks for the help,

Dave

I believe Larry Fitzpatrick was a relative of mine. My dad is retired 3/4s out of Squad 1 (Ronald W. Fitzpatrick). My grandfather is a retired Chief from Battalian 45 (William J. Fitzpatrick) and I had a great uncle that retired as a chief (Jack Fitzpatrick). I had always heard stories of a cousin of my dad's that had died in the line of duty while trying to rescue another fire fighter, and then the rope snapped.
