I teach fire safety in the schools, so I watch Nickelodeon to keep current to what the kids are watching and use references to them.
The one theme that has been sticking in my head is the music from a Mitsubishi commercial for the their Outlander SUV. It starts with a couple of power chords into a heavy bass line...then it segues into... who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!
As far as old cartoons...
Beanie and Cecil (hold on beanie boy..I'm coming to save you!)
Rocky and Bullwinkle (hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat!)
Underdog (There's no need to fear...Underdog is here!)
Looney Tunes (be vewy vewy quiet...I'm hunting wabbits!)
Deputy Dawg (heyyyyyyyyyy Mushkie!)
Tennesee Tuxedo ( Chumley, let's go ask Mr. Whoopee!)
Mighty Mouse (our my group's theme song for Engine 1..."Here we come to save the day!"
Yogi Bear (Boo Boo...is that a pic-a-nic basket?)
Huckleberry Hound
Quick Draw McGraw
Riccohet Rabbit
Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinx
Wally Gator....
I think I spent way too much time in front of the boob tube! :p

It really suprises me that this thread came up, I mean, I was literally just discussing it with my roomates last night about the old Nickalodeon. I even went as far as to go download some episodes of "The Adventures of Pete & Pete". Excellent show :)

Gonzo,
I can relate to that list. ;)
I think one of my all time fav's back in the day was the original Jonny Quest series. You just got to love a cartoon where people actually got whacked. :p That was before the "tree hugger" cartoon days. Saturday morning was a day you got up early to watch, Scooby Doo, Speed Buggy, Josie and the Pussy Cats etc. because if you didn't, they were not going to be on until the next Saturday. My kiddos have it easy, between the Disney CH. and Cartoon network etc. they can watch toons 24/7 if I'd let 'em.

Back in the days of Color Radio, I picked up one - "The Shadow Knows......" In more recent times, there has been this cartoon character on TV, The Road Runner. Beep Beep..... And the Not Ready For Prime Time Coyote, who gets creamed at every turn. Lotta Laughs from these two. One of my daughters likes Garfield the Cat. A tiny Garfield rides on her helment..... Yeah, I know, we're all crazy. Good thing. We'd probably go insane if we wern't. Stay Safe....

SpongeBob is my current favorite......:D
Gonzo named a few of the best ones, but don't forget Tom and Jerry. Johnny Quest was required viewing also. How about some of the old Gerry Anderson "Supermarionation" shows like Thunderbirds, Stingray, SuperCar and Fireball XL5?
Diver Dan? The King and Odie? Leo the LionHearted? All classics!
The mind reels from such flashbacks :D

I can’t believe no one has mentioned ALF.
I loved Rescue911. I know a state trooper who was on the show because a runaway boxcar from the Plymouth yard slammed into a car on 7-mile. I’m not sure, but I think my mom was the dispatcher for that call.

Gonzo good excuse next time my wife catches me watching Nick I will tell her that one:D .
What about Kimba the White Lion.
My favorite was H R Puffenstuff. We also had the classic (not a cartoon for those to young to know) The Friendly Giant and Mr Dress Up.
Got me thinking about what it was like to be a kid again:rolleyes:

A "Nickelodeon" projector was a device you put a Nickle into and turned the crank to view a motion picture. Sometimes on film, sometimes on flip card photos. Worst part is, I DID, in fact use one as a kid at the local "Buster Brown" shoe store.
Now, back to the toons:
Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse

As for Humanoid TV:

ffexCP, ALF was just great and I loved THE MUPPETS too, and ofcourse Bonanza and Startrack.
We got the "TURNER MOVIE CHANNEL" over here, and 'till 09.00 PM they broadcast all these old shows.
So my four year old son and I watch Tom & Jerry after the news, and we have the best of times.

TOOOOO Funnny, people referring to Nic as old... I remember only black and white TV, 5 or 6 channels on a good reception day..
How about; Howdie Doody Show, Captain Kangaroo, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martin, Captain Caveman, Mickey Mouse Club, (ahhh Annette), Spin and Marty, there was another real old one Santa's Workshop or similiar name. Oh god, I'm ever so much more than 30, agree with Gonzo, Mighty Mouse was best. Pepe LaPue, Speedy Gonzalas, Tazmanian Devil, not the newer stuff, when he showed up with Bugs Bunny, etc. Oh My God, what were the puppets one was an undersea adventure, the other was some resuce group, I think had 7 different craft, sub, surface boat, multiple planes, a space ship, can't think of its name, oooohhh no the memory is going....:D :p
