Does anyone have any information on what the ISO standards for fire apparatus are and their meaning. Example, the Perry Fire Department has a truck in front line service that is 26 years old and it is said to not meet the standards of ISO. Does that mean that the truck has to be pulled from service? We have only six pieces of apparatus, of which, other than a converted Freightliner milk truck, the newest truck is 18 years old. I am sure that some volunteer depts. are running apparatus older than this, if anyone could clarify this for me, I would most appreciate it and pass it along to my chief.

Got www.isomitigation.com. Click on the PPC link and then the frequently asked questions link. It takes a while to learn the site but you get all the info from the folks who do the ratings. The have answers to most of your questions on ISO. There are no specific maximum ages for a front line or reserve truck but it be able to pass annual testing for one example.
