Working Fire in South Windsor

There is a working church fire on Avery St. in South Windsor this morning. They have call in mutual Aide from local area towns.

Vernon and Manchester 8th were at the scene.

Ellington went to Station 2 and later to the scene.

Wilson went to Station 1 and later to the scene, Blue Hills moved up to Station 1.

Broad Brook went to Station 3 and went to a smoke investigation, but never to the scene.

I was there with Tower 141 out of Vernon. Upon our arrival we had heavy fire to the rear of the church (obviously). At first we used the monitor to help knock down the exterior until crews were able to get into the building. Then we trenched the roof in 2 locations and took down a side of a wall to check for extension. Everything seemed to go smoothly amoungst command. I would say a job well done by all departments to stop the spread into the sanctuary.
