I posted this in the other topic about blue lights, but for anyone who did not see that I was wondering if when a new chief is elected, do I need to get a new blue light card from that chief or is the card from the old chief sufficient?

I'm not sure if the NYS law specifies that the CURRENT chief has to fill out the card. But as long as the date has not expired, I doubt the local PD would give you a hard time.

We've never issued new ones when there was a change of chiefs. As long as you are a member-in-good-standing there should be no problem as long as the date of issue correponds with who was chief at the time.

I'm a chief who just recently received new blue light cards from FASNY.
Under the chief signature it states "Good until Revoked"
They should be good until then!
