(Ann Arbor-AP) -- After searching long and hard for two years
and coming up empty, Ann Arbor officials searched far and wide
until they found a new fire chief.
Joseph Gorman, who's been given the job, previously ran a fire
department on a military base in Saudi Arabia.
Ann Arbor has been without a permanent fire chief since 2001.
Two other candidates who were offered the job turned it down.
One said he had concerns about taking the job when the city was
debating cutting overtime pay for the department.
Gorman will officially start work next Monday. He arrived in
Detroit yesterday.
