Hey, Jay:
You don't even have to set your beer down to set the hook on a fish.
Tighten your drag all the way down and then take a pair of mini-vise grips and continue to tighten the drag until the vise grips start to slip.
A tight drag will complement your 250 lb. test line quite nicely.
Catch and release buddy.
Do you want me to bring my autographed picture of Babe Winkleman with me on the 23rd?
Oh-oh; does anyone else in here know trainer and I are coming to Hinckleyville to play golf on May 23rd? Whew! For a minute, I thought I let the cat out of the bag. Or in this case, the "catfish".:D

If you aren't tired of eating Mrs. Paul by now, our post total is in jeopardy.

Actually, Jay the Digger was fishing but it was fishing his golf balls out of the water hazards at beautiful Indian Oaks Country Club.
It is only natural, that, if you are going to swear at your ball like a drunken sailor, it will be attracted to the water. And when they weren't landing in the water, they were being attacked by squirrels. The geese were well behaved, but I didn't take my eyes off of them, the sneaky bastards. I have a bad goose experience that I won't go into right now.

Ah, CR, you know what happened every time I cursed at my ball! It even started working for you! The ball-retriever is the most-used club in my bag!

By the way, it was your ball that the squirrel was after. It was in the fairway, remember? I wasn't in the fairway all day.....

Jay, I'm honored to be your idol. I'll even give myself a hand just for my idol status;)

As for catching the line, when everybody else was being somebody with a life in the 70s, I lived rock music. Album rock it was called then. In fact, I have so much vinyl and concert ticket stubs that I should be filing a TIER II report. If it played on underground FM stations back then, I knew it. Refer to CRs top 10 list on the COJ forums. :D

I do know a good song when I hear it.....on an oldies station. Not much new appeals to me. I love listening to the blues.
Also will listen to GooGoo Dolls, Creed, Three Doors Down, Five for Fighting. Allman Brothers have a new one out that I plan on buying. It's a throwback to their Southern blues roots.
Yeah. Music has played an important part in my life. I was a percussionist in the high school band. Earned honors at band competitions and stuff.
Oh and congratulations on joining the 1000 plus post club.

Music has played an important part in my life. I was a percussionist in the high school band.

OMG me toooo!! LMFAO :D

In Jr. and Sr. High School I played the glockenspiel (bells), the timpani drums (My FAV to play was the War of 1812) *WICKED EVIL GRIN*, xylephone, cymbals, cow bell, chimes, and there was another one like the xylephone (one was wooden one was metal) but I can't remember the name of it.

I also played percussion in the stage band, and if the drummer for stage band didn't show up (out smoking dope with the bass player ) I had to fill in on the drumset, that was gross!! It was the only percussion instrument I never played very well. OK I sucked. I could barely keep a beat with the snare drum and bass drum at the same time, lucky to get a cymbal bang once in awhile LOL but I KICKED ASS at the other percussion instruments :D

I was pretty good at piano too. To my everlasting shame I was required in elementary school to get up on the f'n stage every Monday morning during assembly and play the piano to Oh Canada. I think I did it for 2 years. I hated it.

My love of music continued in my teens, with me carrying a small (then) portable cassette player in my back pack to play when I was at the beach or riding my bike or whatever. Then Astraltunes came out and I was a happy camper!!! For those that have never heard of Astraltunes, it was like a car cassette player, attached to a battery pack, and was worn strapped to your chest in a blue & orange padded case. I wore it EVERYWHERE, skiing, walking, school, everywhere I could get away with it. Then came walkmans and the rest is history. I still listen to tunes 24/7. The radio is ALWAYS on, unless I listen to a CD or happen to have the TV on.

Whew, that's the most I've said in 2 months.

RKO was about the only local venue back then. Always drove into Bettendorf and bought my tickets at Pepe's Tacos. Some were at the Col Ballroom, a couple at Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds and I went to a 3 day event at Sedalia, MO back in '75.
Now, the Mark is the concert venue in the Quad Cities.
I don't know; I still don't have a real desire to fight the traffic into Tinley Park. I'll just buy the CD if I get hard up.
So; anyone caught a nice fish lately? Anyone heard a song about a fish lately?:D

CR, I haven't been out since the ice left. Not unusual for me. I'll probably get my boat out by August.
However, Iam going salmon fishing on Sat. Each year all of the guys from our deer camp go salmon fishing out of Waukegan. The last 3 years we got gale winded out. This year we might need our long johns. We have 13 in our camp. 12 are going. Should be good:p :D :)

Sheri, along with the xylophone, you're thinking of a Marimba, and the metal one is the Vibraphone, or "Vibes" for short. I was a band geek too....actually I still play on a regular basis. I'm glad I stuck with it.

If you listen to WGN in the morning, Spike O'Dell is from my neck of the woods. He started out on KUUL-FM part time while working at the Farmall plant in East Moline. He became the most popular DJ in the Quad Cities. Then he got the call from Chicago. He had quite a mentor. And his golf also greatly improved along the way.

Well, the fishing trip was great even if the catching was just average. We were missing 3 from our deer camp instead of 1. The 9 of us(the other 2 were the 2 boat capts)caught 26 cohos in 5 hours. 6 of them are in my smokehouse as I write this. I will share some with any of you that come to PC. Just follow your nose to the smokehouse:p

Those of you that would like to go on a charter out of Waukegan Harbor, on the weekends, call the Harbor(847-244-3133) and ask for the Long Gone III captianed by Loren Goebel. Tell Loren I sent you. He's moored in the north harbor. John Best is my 2nd choice

A young woman had been taking golf lessons.

She had just started playing her first round of golf when she suffered a bee sting.

The pain was so intense that she decided to return to the clubhouse.

Her golf pro saw her come into the clubhouse and asked, "Why back in so early? What's wrong?"

"I was stung by a bee." she said.

"Where?" he asked.

"Between the first and second hole" she replied.

He nodded knowingly and said...... "Then your stance is too wide."
