After a long time of hearing about the wonderful Illinois forum from my dad (see how long it takes you to figure out who that is), I've decided its time I create my own firehouse account and check it out for myself. So I guess I'm just sayin hi, and introducing myself. I'm Doug, been a paid on call firefighter for almost 3 years from down south. Right now I'm really hoping to go full time some time soon, so if anyone's dept. has some job openings..........

Yeah, djinferno is my younger kid. He's looking for a full time FF job. We'll be in Peoria on Saturday. I'm going along so he can sleep on the way up there. Anybody want to say HI, I'll have nothing to do from 10 - 11:30.
Adze, don't worry about sucking up to him. He's still young enough that what dad has to say isn't worth much (in some cases). Isn't there some rule that you have to be in the forum for 30 days before you can vote in a poll?

Hmmm. This perhaps explains the angst in Jack's posts that I aluded to in another thread......

Or maybe, Jack isn't as passionate about this subject after all?

P.S. Of a far more important nature: Doug, there's a service called "Fire Hire" that caters to most of the suburbs around Chicago. They send out notifications of departments that are testing. I can get you info if you're interested.

There has been serious discussion in these forums. Just not recently. I think everyone is still giddy over getting their grants submitted.
Either that or they got a basketful of Easter eggs and are still feeling the sugar buzz.
