Just sat through Training Officer 101 put on by the Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors.

Wow. All I can really say is, wow. A truly awesome class. We were taught by Rudy Horist from Elgin, and Forest Reeder from Pleasant View. This class is a MUST for chiefs and training officers. You will walk away with a TON of info and help with establishing and improving your training program, especially on the important topics of IDOL, OSHA, NFPA and ISO compliance.

The closest they come to you southerners yet this year will be Oct. 11 in Ottawa. Also, Sept 13 in Bloomingdale. Absolutely the best $100 you can spend for a one-day workshop.

Additionally, they have a Training Program Manager Course designed to help the new or foundering training officer set up or improve a training program. TMP will be offered in Decatur on Sept 8-10, 15-17. There are other dates up north. I suspect that this will be every bit as good as the 101 class.

One thing they didn't teach in this class is how to SPELL.

I have corrected the link.

I will now take my spelling lesson.

In a tip o' the leather to "Thread Dredger" Weruj1, I have resurrected this here TO101 thread.

I have been informed that there will be classes offered on Aug 28 (DeKalb), Sept 11 (Matteson), Sept 25 (Frankfort), and Nov 13 (Peoria). THAT'S PEORIA, ART. All of these dates are Saturdays.

I stand by all eariler comments. This is an 8 hour class that runs $100. If you are serious about the safety and education of your department, take this workshop.

We got a flier on this last weekend in Salem. Seems everybody forgets about us southerners when it comes to this sort of thing. GET THE CLASS DOWN HERE and we will come.

I'm with you Jack. Wonder if someone could talk Chief Mann and Salem into being kind enough to host this class too? They've got a lot of training sessions on their plate already but I think Salem would be a good place to have it. I would be there in a heartbeat especially since I didn't get to enjoy all of the good food they had at the Chief's Training!!!

Jaybird, get your map out. Cairo is a heck of lot closer to me than Peoria.

Jack, the only map I've got is cut off at I-80. Is there anything south of there?

On my map, North of I-80 is only about 2" tall. SOUTH of I-80 is about a foot and a half. That's means there's more of us than there are of you.

I haven't had this class, but I have had the pleasure of being taught by Rudy Horist while in Elgin's Fire Academy. Don't get me wrong, every instructor did a pretty fine job, but Rudy was a step above. One of those folks that leaves a lasting impression, if you know what I mean. And the man knows his RIT.

Maybe there's more population, but I'll bet we've got more departments than there are up there.

I DO plan on being there, I just can't get into the ISFSI web site to see how to register. Steve, if there's some trick to it, let me know, or if there's a phone number I can call let me know that, too.
