Chance Barlow

anyone know Chance Barlow? He used to be on my department, his dad is a captain here still. He is in Afghanastan (sp) right now, and has received a lot of recognition for saving a kid from a fire. His gear from that fire is on display at Flanagan house, the oldest house in Peoria.

I read the article in the PJStar. Pretty interesting. I'd pay the four bucks just to see the turnout gear. I heard it was pretty messed up and discolored. That was quite a story. Pretty cool name, too. "Chance". Wasn't there a John Wayne movie in which John Wayne's character was named "Chance". I believe Dean Martin, Walter Brennan and Ricky Nelson was in it.
Sorry, didn't mean to go off.
It was a heroic act and a great way to remember it for all the ages.

Chance received the Medal of Honor today in Springfield for his actions at this fire. Firefighters Camp and Clarke were presented the Medal of Valor Award for their actions. All of these firefighters should be commended for going beyond the call of duty.

The showed a tape of Chance describing the actions they took at the fire. This was taped at a military post in the middle of nowhere, probably in Afghanistan. His wife and Fire Chief accepted the award for him. Congratulations on a job well done.

Found out today that Chance Barlow, along with others in his battalion received the Bronze Star for valor in Iraq.
This guy is phenomenal.
