Here, Sack Man; let me help you out. Just so you won't think that it is a numbers game.
I noticed that it had gotten awful quiet over here. I just figured that it was grass fire season and everyone's running their butts off.
As you know, Adze, I am semi-retired, so I have this kind of time.
I finally worked through the jitters of NOT responding when the tones dropped.
Hey; on another note, thanks for turning me on to FFF. I just got to remember to go there. Can I set up for auto notification?
Good luck recharging. Let me know if any more Illinois boys come here.

I for one will post here, to get a little activity up! And I will not cower from the jack-booted thugs who have threatened to rip my arms off and beat me with the bloddy stumps for doing so!!!
There are over 200,000 troups in Iraq fighting for the rights of Iraqis to post here! So what about my rights!?!?
Sheesh, the guy wins an election and he thinks he's Saddam!!
 :p :D J/K CR!!!

I also couldn't help but notice that you are ahead of me; here. Not there; but here.

I just figured that it was grass fire season and everyone's running their butts off.
My wide white rump...
Although it's nearing the normal height of the spring fire season, the Town plows are out sanding as we speak as they anticipate upto 1/2" of ice tonite.
Of course, at least our town crew is smart enough to sand in advance. As soon as the accidents start tonite, then the State will be sent to their garages and then they'll load the trucks, and then eventually they'll make the state roads safe!
We've had enough snow this past year, it won't be much of a spring fire season. Usually Mar 15 - Apr 15 is "grass", but that's all gonna be green before the current wet weather ends. Then the Apr 15 - May 15 "duff" part of the season won't be much since all the snow this year packed down the forest floors pretty good.

We had something like 72.2" of snow this year...was like 11 or 12" last year...

I can't decide if I like having a ton of snow, or almost no snow. I am definitely glad we had a lot up north though.. awesome skiing. They just got another 8 inches this weekend, April 4th!!

This is ridiculous! If we have tomorrow off from school we lose one of our days from April Vacation (next Friday). This is so weird this year.

HA HA! Sucks to be you! ;)
My senior year in HS, the first week of May was all in the 90's. We had well over a foot of snow in the second week of May.
Like Mark Twain used to say, if you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a minute and it will change.

I wonder what happens if they add all five days on to the end, start taking from April vacation, and then take all five days from that. Would they make us go into July?

If I recall correctly, it is currently against the law to extend the regular school year into July.

"I can't believe all the snow we got. Shovel load after shovel load... I cant wait till it gets warmer..."
Thats what I would be saying if I didnt live in sunny Florida now. I guess I got out just in time. But dont think its all good down here.. Most mornings its 70deg out. But theres that one morning that its only 68... gotta break out the jacket.. i swear..:D

it is 5 o'clock and although we have about 2 inches max on the grass, we have absolutely no accumulation on the roadways. they say it's supposed to get heavy now though so we'll see...

I know all Towns and I suspect it extends to the few independent school districts, have to have a July 1 fiscal year to match the State. Until the late 80s/early 90s they could have whatever they wanted.
Could you just imagine the tilt it would cause to the State Education bureaucrats now if a School Year didn't fit neatly with their "fiscal year."
