Wanna Be

I'm 26 yrs old and have been working (unhappily)in technology for several years. I've always wanted to become a firefighter and recently decided I had to pursue it. I have no idea where to begin. Can you guys point me towards a resource that would explain the best ways to get started. Is it worthwhile to get a fire science degree first? It sounds as though becoming a firefighter/paramedic is the best way to go. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

As for the paramedic question. Without a doubt, being a paramedic will truly make you more marketable and more likely to get hired.
