It's me again?? I know I am full of questions! Kinda comes with the job if ya know what I mean  Just wondering what kind of bunker gear everyone is wearing. 3/4 boots and long coats or full bunker gear?? And while we are at it, lets kill two birds with one forum (so to speak) :D Heck lets throw caution to the wind and add SCBA types also WOOOOOHOOOO!!!
We have Quest brand full turn out gear with the new millenia outer shell, leather boots and traditional helmets.
We have a combination of both low pressure and High Pressure SCBA
Low pressure = Drager with aluminum bottles that we are phaseing out!
High pressure = ISI Viking Digitals with heads up display and built in pass, voice amplification system and Radio interface. 30 min carbon bottles and our RIT team has 1 hour carbon bottles

We have half the department in Securitex and the other half have Chieftain. Our gear is all full bunker.
Our scba's are Scott 2.2 with all. 30 min bottles. We are applying for a FEMA grant to upgrade scba. If we're lucky enough we will upgrade to CairnsAir Pioneer Pro's 2216 30 min carbon bottles.

GOLDDIGGERS!
You should be wearing a fez with a big yellow tassle!:p
Whoops; that might not be a good idea.
A beanie with a propeller on top. Yeah; that'll work.

That would be our parade hat. But it's a fluorescent yellow tassle for officers, and a plain silver one for grunts.
A beanie with a propeller on top.
That would be the chief's helmet. That's how I get an "overall" view of an incident.
Oh by the way Jay, I'm not going to come and crash these Illinois threads anymore if all you're concerned about is #s #s #s!!
It's all about the numbers.

It sounds like you all have gear that is QUITE a bit newer then mine. My last piece of gear was a new coat in 1996...Not counting gloves.

80FIRE,,,, How do you like your ISI Digitals?? Are they holding up ok. Any complaints yet? What features do you have with them?

So far we have had no problems with any of our packs. We really like them. We have the digital package which includes in mask air level LED's, voice amplification, and integrated PASS. I really like the voice amp feature. My hearing is poor and had a very hard time communicating with other FF with mask on. Not with voice amp everthing you say sounds clear. You can talk on the radio clearly with voice amp through the speaker mike. They can be wired directly in to the radios as an aditional option but was expensive. Also only only works on specific radio brands. We have an assortment of radios and eack SCBA would have to be assigned a radio to make it work. I also like the ability to go from on/off air with mask switch. Saves a lot of air if you can switch off/on easily. Our 3 main mutual aid departments also have ISI (some not digital) so every one here is compatable and interchangeable if needed.

I got in this late and I, too, am almost ashamed to say what we have. Our bunker gear is a hodgepodge of brands. Whenever we've bought some new, it was from whoever had the cheapest price. Rubber boots, unless the guys have bought their own leather, a variety of helmets, some MSA, Bullard, etc., Dragonfly PASS, MSA air packs, including 5 OLD 401s that have been converted to positive pressure. Hope FEMA comes through this year with money for some new ones. No TIC and the trustees wouldn't let me ask for one again this year.
And, NO, we don't want any rain. It's muddy down here.

I know what you meen Jack about mix and match! We were in the same boat untill this year. All of our bunker gear was just plain worn out!! it was all purchased in or around 86ish. (Nothing like wearing a set of bunker gear that you can not bend over to pick up something because the last guy that handed them down was not your size.) We had a few new sets added in the past two years that we raised the money for ourselves. Had the old msa and scott steel tanks. So if it was not for the Grace of God,(and FEMA) in which we got a grant last year we would still be in our old gear!! Did i mention it feels good to have a pair of boots that actually fit! LOL Ok the kitchen's open :D
