Okay, first things first. We gotta stop callin' 'em barns. You didn't list any horses so......

Our station has:

-1971 Ford/Darley Pumper/tanker (1000 tank, 350 pump. Okay, it's more of a grass rig.)
-1972 Ford/Pierce 65' Snorkel (1000 pump, no tank)
-1985 Ford/E-One pumper (1000 tank, 750 pump)
-1992 Navistar/E-One Rescue Engine (1000 tank 1250 pump)
-1994 Navistar Tanker (3000 tank, NO PUMP (!?!))
-1998 Chevy/Monroe grass truck (300 skid load)
-1995 Ford/MedTec ALS Ambulance

As soon as we get room, we'll put our 1936 GMC/American pumper in someplace. Maybe then we can get to restoring it.....

We ran 194 last year (dammit, could get six more!!?!?), 144 EMS.

First of all:
Our department runs about 60 calls a year; 35 rescue and 25 fire calls. We are now counting medical first response calls, so the numbers will go up.
Equipment consists of:
1985 Chevrolet P-30 StepVan with cascaded air, generator, lights, extrication tools, airbags, cribbing, etc.
1969 Chevrolet with 500 gpm front mount Barton/American pump and a 1150 gallon tank w/Newton dump. It is in reserve.
1989 Chevrolet Kodiak with 750 gpm front mount American/Godiva pump and a 1000 gallon tank w/Newton dump. It also has a set of extrication equipment on it.
1998 Freightliner 5 man cab with 1500 gpm Hale midship pump with top mount control and a 1000 gallon tank. Also equipped with 5" LDH hose and deck gun.
All trucks were built by Alexis Fire Equipment. The rescue van was purchased used and refurbished by the department members.
We serve a fire district that is 62 square miles and 1100 population.
Did I mention that the '89 and '98 are fluorescent red in color?
Benlochef: welcome to the Illinois forums. I am a former chief who will become a trustee on April 1st. Kinda ironic, since it's April Fool's Day!

How come we haven't done this before?

We've got the following:
1988 Ford F800, 750 midship, top controls, 1000 tank. Just got it from Pittsboro, IN. It's that (s)lime green one.
1973 Ford/Towers "C" model, 500 hale front pump, 1000 tank. It's red, as are all the rest of these.
1960 IH/Towers, 500 Barton/American front mount, 500 tank, Station 2's pumper
1974 Chevy tanker, 1200 gal., 200 gpm PTO pump, 10" dump
1980 Ford tanker, 1200 gal., no pump, 10" dump. Hey, if it's a tanker, it hauls water. Don't need a pump.
1988 Ford F250 4X4, skid unit w/ 250 gal., brush stuff, generator, quartz lights
1992 Ford Ranger 4X4, 110 gal., 50 gpm pump, brush stuff & 1st Responder equipment. Housed in Station 2 in my home town.
1997 Ford E350, former ambulance. We use it for equipment & 1st Respnder calls from Station 1. Has saws, cascade, air packs, etc.
1980 E350, will be 1st Responder vehicle, truck co. for Station 2 when the new building gets done. If it ever gets started.
We run about 140 calls a year total, 100 1st Responder. Our district is 94 square miles w/ 18 miles of RR & 8 miles of Interstate.

I didn't know there were that many other depts. w/ front pumps. I love them but the cost for a new one is out of reach for us now. I understand they're about a 30,000 premium from the big truck builders. A neighboring dept. just got a new one. Towers mounted the pump for Luverne. That saved them big bucks. They had to go to a bigger chassis to get the PTO off the crankshaft. It had to fit under the radiator instead of going through it like they used to. That truck's a monster.

Basically ALL unincorporated area's of Williamson County, there are also a few small towns we cover such as Spillertown. We took in Creal Springs last year so that made our station 7. Once in a great while we will have a fire near a hydrant but not too oftern so most of them involve tanker operations with another engine at a dry hydrant. Not to toot our own horn but moving a TON of water in a hurry is some thing we are very good at
