Got to try out our new dewalt cordless circular saw last week. It was pretty impressive. One thing we learned was that PAM cooking spray on the blade helped keep the tar from building up on blade. We made several cuts on the insul-brick on the outside of a house. The weight and quietness made it easy to use. Still waiting to use it at a ventilation class to see how long battery will hold up.

We have the exact same saw but haven't had a chance to use it for much of anything yet. We've bene using our 24V cordless dewalt recip saw for ventilation which works awesome. The only downfall is you need to take a pickhead axe on the roof with you to start the hole. If you get a chance to use the circular saw on a roof for ventilation let me know how it goes.
Thanks

With a little practice you should be able to make a plunge cut with the recpt saw. Lay the saw with the blade with the roof and let the end of the blade make its own hole. You are still faster to use the ax but but it can be done if the ax does not make it to the roof.
I use both the cordless circ saw and recpt saw in construction work and love them
